The local fall fair was this past weekend, and they hold an annual demolition derby. I ran in the small car class with a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird Coupe, powered by a 2.0L (Opel!) engine.
I won my heat, and finished 3rd in the finals. The rear of the car packed in and bound everything up, but the motor was running strong as hell, even with the temp pegged in the red after the rad blew. In the end I could only drive forewards because the ass end was dragging so bad. The engine got so hot, it melted the plug wires and erupted into a ball of fire. Still had fun though!
Side note: The camera on my phone is dying. Hence the garbage pictures.

Just tell everyone that you’re using a new filter..... it really looks like you’re using one.
Also, congrats! That sounds like a ton of fun.

Lol, there’s a bunch of scratches on the left half of the lens. Everything’s blurred.

I never thought about running in one before, but that sounds like so much fun, I’ll have to look around for em!
You had to look for your own car for entry I assume?

Yeah, I live in a small town so when I’m driving anywhere I usually look for old cars that don’t move very often. I talk to the owners and usually pick them up for a couple hundred bucks.
There’s nothing more satisfying than beating on a car until it physically will not go anymore.

There's some type of cage in there, right? This seems like a really cool thing to do, but I've got to be honest, there's a little too much crunchiness a little too close to the passenger cabin for my liking.

Steel bar across the windshield, steel bar across the drivers door, and passenger door, and a steel bar welded pillar-to-pillar behind the seats. The door bars are welded to the pillar-to-pillar bar.

Yeah I’ve seen few cars like that around in Toronto too, but I’m always scared of maintenence expenses, so I most likely won’t be able to go through with it until I’m out of college. I also don’t have tools, which would increase costs way too high if I got someone to do the work.
